Chapter 7: Chapter 7: One Kick Toppled Daibao
Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure
Yu Nuannuan looked over when she heard the commotion and saw Qin Yuelan walking in, carrying a little boy in her arms.
Qin Yuelan was the daughter-in-law of the Gu family next door, and the boy she was holding was her son, Daibao.
The first time Yu Nuannuan heard that the little boy was called Daibao, she thought it was a strange name. But after seeing him a few more times, she realized that the name suited him perfectly: the boy always wore a blank expression, with a little curl of hair on his forehead, looking adorably clueless.
Daibao’s real name was Gu Mo, and he was already a year and a half old.
The reason Qin Yuelan brought Daibao over was simple. With the summer harvest coming up, there was no one at the Gu house to look after Daibao, and since Chen Qiaoqin didn’t have to go out to work, Qin Yuelan discussed it with her and decided to bring Daibao over for Chen Qiaoqin to watch for a while.
The two families were neighbors, and Chen Qiaoqin and Qin Yuelan had married into their respective families around the same time. They got along quite well. Now that Qin Yuelan was asking for help, of course Chen Qiaoqin had no reason to refuse.
Qin Yuelan set Gu Mo down on the bed and peeked over at Yu Nuannuan. “Why is this little girl always sighing?”
At that, Chen Qiaoqin couldn’t help but sigh herself. “Who knows! She’s so young, but she’s always sighing, like she’s got the weight of the world on her shoulders!”
“That’s still better than Daibao. Look at him—he never shows any expression all day long. If the doctor hadn’t checked him and said he’s fine, I’d have thought there was something wrong with the child!”
“Daibao is just steady.”
“And Nuannuan is just sweet!”
Yu Nuannuan glanced at the two women, who had clearly entered the “praise each other’s kids” mode, then decisively looked away and turned her attention to Daibao.
Just then, Daibao looked over too, and their eyes met.
As someone who appreciated good looks, Yu Nuannuan actually liked Gu Mo quite a bit. Even though he never showed any expression, he had such delicate features!
Qin Yuelan only had this one son, so she doted on him. He was chubby and fair-skinned, with big, round, watery eyes that seemed to see right through you.
Yu Nuannuan grinned and gave Gu Mo a sweet smile.
Gu Mo glanced at her, then expressionlessly looked away.
Yu Nuannuan: “……”
This little rascal!
The harvest couldn’t wait, so Qin Yuelan didn’t stay long before leaving.
If it were any other child, just over a year old, they’d definitely cry and fuss when their mother left. But Gu Mo just watched Qin Yuelan walk away with a blank face, then continued to silently take in his surroundings.
Chen Qiaoqin looked from Gu Mo to Yu Nuannuan and couldn’t help but laugh. These two kids really were complete opposites.
After surveying the room, Gu Mo’s gaze fell back on Yu Nuannuan.
She was a six-month-old baby, fair and chubby, with big, bright, grape-like eyes that darted around mischievously. Just looking at her, you could tell she was full of spirit.
He’d heard Qin Yuelan praise Yu Nuannuan more than once. Was this what a normal child was supposed to be like? Should he try to learn from her?
Just as he was thinking this, a little foot kicked him in the stomach.
To be honest, the kick wasn’t very hard, but Gu Mo hadn’t been expecting it, so he toppled over onto his back on the bed.
Gu Mo stared speechlessly at the ceiling. Should he kick back or not?
Yu Nuannuan heard the thud and turned her head, only to see Gu Mo lying there. Just from his profile, she could tell he was both shocked and angry."
