Chapter 3: Chapter 3: My Granddaughter Is Hungry
Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure
Yu Hai looked at Zhang Yugu, who came to open the door, and stammered, “Sister-in-law, how’s Qiaoqin doing?”
“She’s fine! Come in and see for yourself!”
Zhang Yugu stepped aside to let Yu Hai into the house.
The light in the room was on, but it was dim and not very bright.
Yu Hai walked all the way to the bedside before he could really see Chen Qiaoqin’s face clearly. He saw that although she looked tired, her face was full of smiles, so he knew she really was doing well. Only then did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“That’s good! That’s good—”
Before he could finish, Yu Hai noticed the swaddled bundle next to Chen Qiaoqin.
The baby was wrapped up tightly, with a quilt covering her, so he could only see the little face.
That tiny face looked no bigger than the palm of his hand.
“Qiaoqin, is this our child? Is it a boy or a girl?”
Chen Qiaoqin smiled and said, “It’s a girl.”
“A girl?!”
Yu Hai exclaimed in surprise, startling the baby in the swaddling clothes, which made Chen Qiaoqin cry out too. But halfway through her shout, she forced herself to lower her voice and glared at Yu Hai, “What are you doing? You’re going to scare the baby again!”
Yu Hai quickly covered his mouth. After a while, he gave an embarrassed smile. “I didn’t mean to... I just didn’t expect... It’s really a girl?”
In the Yu family, there hadn’t been a daughter for generations. He never expected that his first child would be a girl!
“Great, great!” Yu Hai was overjoyed and reached out, wanting to pick up the baby.
Just then, Xu Shuhua came in carrying a bowl. She saw what Yu Hai was about to do and quickly slapped his hand away. “What are you doing? Got nothing better to do after eating? The baby just fell asleep. If you wake her up and she starts crying, you won’t feel bad, but I will! Out, out, hurry up and get out!”
Yu Hai didn’t mind getting his hand slapped. He grinned at Xu Shuhua, trying to please her. “Mom, this is my room. If you kick me out, where am I supposed to sleep? It’s the middle of the night!”
When Yu Hai mentioned it was the middle of the night, Chen Qiaoqin suddenly remembered something. “Was the baby born before midnight or after?”
She’d been so focused on the pain that she hadn’t checked the time.
Not just her—even the three sisters-in-law, including Zhang Yugu, hadn’t paid attention to that detail.
Seeing everyone in the room looking at each other, Xu Shuhua smiled proudly. “Don’t worry, I checked the time! She was born at one o’clock, right on the first day of the Lunar New Year!”
When Yu Nuannuan woke up, the first thing she heard was: “Born on the first day of the Lunar New Year!”
Born on the first day of the New Year?!
But that wasn’t important. What mattered was that she was hungry.
The body’s instincts are impossible to resist.
Yu Nuannuan couldn’t speak, so she just squirmed and let out a couple of whimpers.
Hearing Yu Nuannuan’s little sounds, Xu Shuhua, who had just been talking, immediately fell silent and looked down at her. “What’s wrong, little one? Did your dad wake you up with his talking? Grandma will kick him out right now!”
Yu Hai leaned over nervously. “What’s wrong? Did I wake her up?”
As they got closer, both of them saw the little mouth moving restlessly.
Xu Shuhua suddenly understood. “She’s hungry!”
Yu Hai let out a sigh of relief. “She’s hungry!”
So it wasn’t him who woke her up! What a relief!
Seeing Yu Hai still not leaving, Xu Shuhua glared at him again. “Didn’t you hear me? My granddaughter is hungry! Get out! Let Qiaoqin feed her!”"
