Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Seeds Stay

Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure

Chen Qiaoqin opened her mouth, but for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.

After thinking for a while, she finally managed to give a dry reminder, “Daibao, Nuannuan being a little fairy is our secret. You can’t tell anyone else, or you’ll never get to see Nuannuan again.”

Gu Mo nodded seriously. “I know.”

But seeing that Chen Qiaoqin still looked uneasy, Gu Mo simply pulled off another strawberry and handed it to her. “Eat!”

Yu Nuannuan, seeing this, patted the bed hard and let out two “ah ah” sounds.

Just because she couldn’t talk, did that mean she had no rights?

If it weren’t for her, would they even have these strawberries?

Gu Mo ate one, gave one to Chen Qiaoqin, but why wasn’t she getting any?

Hearing the commotion, Chen Qiaoqin looked over and saw Yu Nuannuan staring eagerly at the strawberries, her rosy little mouth moving as if she really wanted to eat.

“Nuannuan wants some too?”

Saying this, Chen Qiaoqin took the strawberry from Gu Mo and walked over to Yu Nuannuan.

To Yu Nuannuan, the strawberry was a bit big—she couldn’t hold it with just one hand.

But that was okay. She obediently raised her other little hand, holding the strawberry with both hands and bringing it to her mouth.

But then she ran into a new problem—she didn’t have any teeth!

She gummed at the strawberry for ages, but only managed to break a tiny bit of the skin.

The sweet fragrance was right at her lips, but she just couldn’t eat it. Wasn’t that infuriating?

Chen Qiaoqin quickly realized what the issue was. She looked at the strawberry, then at Yu Nuannuan, and smiled as she took the strawberry away. “Nuannuan, give me the strawberry. I’ll make it into juice for you to drink.”

At first, Yu Nuannuan was a little unhappy when the strawberry was taken away, but after hearing what Chen Qiaoqin said, she obediently smiled at her.

Chen Qiaoqin hurried out with the strawberry, and when she came back, she was holding a small bowl filled with freshly made strawberry juice.

With a little spoon, Chen Qiaoqin fed Yu Nuannuan the strawberry juice, making her so happy she beamed from ear to ear.

Honestly, this was the best strawberry she’d ever tasted.

It was especially sweet and fragrant, with not a hint of sourness.

This strawberry plant had borne a total of eight fruits. Yu Nuannuan ate one, Gu Mo ate one, and six were left.

Looking at the six remaining strawberries, Chen Qiaoqin started to worry. “Daibao, do you want to take the rest of the strawberries home with you?”

If Gu Mo insisted on taking them home, that would be a problem.

Strawberries were such a rare thing—she’d only ever seen them in the county town, and no one in their village had ever eaten one!

Thinking of this, Chen Qiaoqin grew even more curious about something else. “Daibao, where did you get the strawberry seeds?”

Gu Mo’s dark eyes stared unblinkingly at Chen Qiaoqin, his childish voice giving nothing away. “Little Uncle ate strawberries.”

Hearing this, Chen Qiaoqin instinctively frowned.

No need to ask—if Gu Jiandong ate strawberries, he definitely didn’t share any with Gu Mo.

That young man in his twenties, always loafing around and never lifting a finger to help, yet the old couple in the Gu family still treated him like a treasure.

“Daibao!” Chen Qiaoqin smiled at Gu Mo. “If you take the strawberries home, your little uncle will definitely eat them. Why not leave them here? You’ll be staying here for the next few days anyway, so you can eat them whenever you want. How about it?”

Gu Mo hadn’t planned to take the strawberries home anyway. He nodded, then picked up another strawberry, dug out a seed with his fingernail, and said, “The seeds! Leave them here!”"
