Chapter 11: A Bunch of Little Greens

Big Boss Builds Infrastructure in the Interstellar Era

Being stared at by Yun Qimu, Yun Xiaoyu’s little paw clutching the longevity lock grew stiffer and stiffer, his eyes flickering with guilt.

“T-this… this was something Yun Shangyang lost to me.”

Yun Qimu looked skeptical. “He really lost it to you?”

Yun Xiaoyu stammered, but quickly straightened his neck and insisted, “Really!”

“This longevity lock was a birth gift from Grandpa Favoritism to Lin Shangyang when he was born. But before, Yun Shangyang and I made a bet to see who could recognize more characters. If I lost, I’d give him all the camellia cakes Grandma gave me. If he lost, he’d give me this spatial charm. In the end, I won, so of course the longevity lock is mine now.”

He hummed, growing more and more self-righteous.

“Later, that little chubby Yun Shangyang tried to go back on his word and even called Grandma and Aunt to cover for him. Hmph, he had his tricks but so did I! While he was sleeping, I snuck in and took it. I even used it to pack up a bunch of stuff and bring it out. Heh, I bet none of them know about this.”

The little guy looked quite pleased with himself, muttering away as he happily stuck his little butt out and started pulling things out.

“There’s nothing on this exile star, so the stuff I brought will definitely come in handy. This is a kettle for boiling water, this is a cup, here are my clothes, and clothes and quilts for Dad, Mom, and Brother.”

“And this, this—my little treasure box, Dad’s private stash of money, Mom’s jewelry, Brother’s books, pots from the kitchen…”

He rattled on and on, piling up a mountain of odds and ends that filled the floor and the low table in the little living room.

Good grief, he even yanked the fake flowers from Mom and Dad’s room.

Yun Xiaoyu pouted, looking like he still hadn’t had enough, and regretfully said that if the space had been bigger, he’d have packed up the whole bed too.

Yun Qimu thought this little brother was something else!

Not only did he sneakily get his hands on a spatial charm, he also managed to escape from the Yun family and stow away on the spaceship with them. Compared to the original Yun Qimu, he really was a clever little fox.

But she noticed something odd. “So, where’s my stuff?”

Yun Xiaoyu’s previously proud little face fell, and he pouted, muttering, “There was no one in Dad, Mom, or Brother’s rooms, so I could sneak in and grab things. But your room had Nasha and Cousin coming to find you, so I couldn’t get in. And who knew your suitcase only had nutrient packs and not even a single energy coin…”

Yun Qimu choked. She didn’t know why there were only a few bottles of nutrient solution in her suitcase either!

In the end, she could only blame that damned treacherous servant. Just cutting off her arms was too light a punishment.

A servant betraying their master was punishable by hanging.

Now that they were sorting things out, Yun Qimu didn’t rush the two “kids” to bed. Instead, she decided to inventory everything the three of them had brought.

Of course, the main focus was on what Yun Xiaoyu had brought. As for herself, she only had a suitcase with enough nutrient packs to last a few days. Yun Dad didn’t have much more.

She had Yun Xiaoyu search Yun Dad from head to toe. His spatial charm was already gone, leaving only five energy coins in his pocket, a black iron dagger at his waist, and a wedding ring with a bean-sized piece of green jade on his finger.

Other than that, all he had was the old military uniform he was wearing.

Yun Qimu: …He’s even worse off than me!

Those Yun family people were truly heartless. If it had been the original Yun Qimu and her brother—a fool and a sickly child—even with Yun Dad’s powers, they wouldn’t have lasted long on this exile star.

Sigh!

“What’s wrong? Didn’t I bring enough?” Yun Xiaoyu, squatting beside her, tilted his little head to look at her, his big dark eyes a little nervous.

“No, it’s enough. What you brought is a huge help. I can even wear Mom’s clothes.” Yun Qimu ruffled his short black hair and smiled. “And if it weren’t for you, Dad and I would be in real trouble. You’re amazing.”

Little Brother instinctively puffed out his chest, looking proud.

“Alright, I’ll sort these things out. You take your clothes and wash up, then get ready for bed. Tonight, you and Dad sleep on the bed inside, I’ll sleep on the floor.”

Yun Xiaoyu, his little tuft of hair sticking up, immediately turned his head, looking wary. “No way, you’re sickly, you can’t sleep on the floor. Dad and I will sleep on the floor.”

“No, you’re too little, you’ll get sick. Be good.”

“I may be small, but I’m strong! I won’t get sick.”

The siblings stared each other down, neither willing to back down.

Off to the side, Yun Dad, who was squatting there with them, looked back and forth curiously, then grinned and joined in, “I—I’ll sleep on the floor.”

In the end, it was decided that the biggest and sturdiest Yun Dad would sleep on the floor, while the siblings would share the bed.

On the exile star, the nights were pitch-black and bone-chilling, not a glimmer of light to be seen.

Terrifying, savage winds howled outside, and the distant roars of wild beasts sent chills down the spine, making teeth chatter uncontrollably.

The people who had been lurking nearby, eyeing the Yun family, scattered in panic as darkness fell, scrambling to find places to hide.

No one had expected the weather on the exile star to be even harsher than the rumors had said.

In the darkness, someone’s screams echoed out, sharp and miserable.

But none of that had anything to do with the little family in the cabin.

Inside, the cabin was warm and cozy, almost completely insulated from the chaos outside. Even the holes that looked drafty turned out to be for show—there wasn’t the slightest breeze.

The little cabin was like an anchor in a stormy sea, unmoving and self-contained, its own little world.

After more than half an hour, under Yun Xiaoyu’s supervision, Yun Dad finished washing up and happily climbed into bed.

On the wooden bed, Yun Xiaoyu pressed himself against the wall, his big dark eyes darting around in the darkness, cheeks flushed, lips pressed together shyly.

He hadn’t slept with an adult since he was three. Sister Mu smelled so nice.

“What’s wrong, can’t sleep?” Yun Qimu, hearing the irregular breathing beside her, raised an eyebrow and asked.

Little Brother stiffened, fumbling for an excuse. “N-no. It’s just… you seem really well today.”

As he spoke, his eyes dimmed, sneaking a glance at Yun Qimu, worry flickering in his gaze that she couldn’t see.

Yun Qimu recalled how “she” had spent twenty-three out of twenty-four hours every day in a stupor.

But today, she felt unusually good. She’d already been awake for over three hours, and thanks to the Rouge Drunk, her once pale, delicate face now showed no sign of weakness.

She turned over and gently pulled the little bundle into her arms. “That’s because my powers have awakened. From now on, I’ll only get healthier. Don’t worry, sweetheart, I’ll take care of you and Dad…”

Her voice was warm and comforting in the darkness. Yun Xiaoyu pouted, wanting to argue, but as he listened, he gradually relaxed.

He closed his eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep."
