Chapter 107: Stopping Her from Lifting Her Shirt on the Spot

Wild and Dashing in the 80s

Letting go of the doorknob, Su Qinghu rushed over. Just as Chen Lie thought she was about to throw herself into his arms, she stopped abruptly a step away from him, put her hands behind her back, and complained in a pitiful tone, “Chen Lie, someone hit me today~~~”

Her sudden stop left Chen Lie’s outstretched hands hanging awkwardly for a moment, but only for a moment—he quickly let them fall to his sides.

Of course Su Qinghu noticed Chen Lie’s movement. In fact, because she noticed, her expression became even more innocent and pure.

Chen Lie looked down at her, wanting to say something, but her “Chen Lie, someone hit me today~~~” left him at a loss for words.

Didn’t she win the fight?

She won, but still acts aggrieved—what does she want him to do? Get revenge for her?

“The two who fought you are already injured and have been sent to the station…” Chen Lie quickly spoke up when he saw Su Qinghu’s cheeks puffing up, “If I get involved now, it wouldn’t be appropriate, right?”

“Pfft!” The captain, who was standing by the door between Su Qinghu and Sister Li’s room, overheard Su Qinghu’s words and caught a glimpse of Chen Lie’s awkwardness out of the corner of his eye. He couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

This was just too funny. Oh my, where did Chen Lie find such a hilarious little wife?

Su Qinghu turned her head and glanced at the captain, then looked further inside and understood—these were the police officers here today to reel in the “fish.”

“They really took the risk tonight, huh?” She stayed put, keeping her distance from danger, and asked curiously, “How many fish did I catch today?”

The captain grinned and chuckled twice, then, under Chen Lie’s warning gaze, replied, “Three.”

“Three?” Su Qinghu shook her head, a bit disappointed. “That’s less than I expected.”

After Yuan Hang and a few other officers had warned her that her looks might attract trouble, she’d mentally prepared herself—she’d expected at least five.

“Quality over quantity,” Chen Lie frowned, seeing how lightly she took it. “The things they prepared could have made you disappear without anyone noticing.”

“Then you have to avenge me~~~” Su Qinghu tilted her pretty face up at him, her brows slightly furrowed, though inside she was dying of laughter.

Chen Lie: “…They’ve already been caught.”

“So what?” Su Qinghu said, taking a step forward, glaring at him as she started rolling up her sleeves.

The captain sucked in a breath through his teeth—this wasn’t good, was she really going to hit her man in front of everyone?

Whether Chen Lie dodged or not, he’d lose face either way…

Yuan Hang and Sister Li were also stunned. They knew Su Qinghu had a temper, but not this much of a temper…

She actually dared to lay hands on this man, who looked anything but easy to mess with!

Sister Li had never met Chen Lie and didn’t know his identity, but from Su Qinghu’s affectionate tone earlier, she could guess he was either a relative or her husband.

Either way, it wouldn’t be good to fight, especially with police around—if they really started, she’d probably get arrested on the spot.

She started to walk over to Su Qinghu, about to say something to dissuade her, when she saw Su Qinghu roll up her sleeves and, without another word, thrust her two pale arms right under Chen Lie’s nose.

Sister Li: “…”

Sister Li froze, instinctively holding her breath. Well… even though times were more open now and showing arms or legs wasn’t a big deal, this… the situation just felt a bit off…

Yuan Hang was still standing by the window, watching Su Qinghu and Chen Lie’s interaction, his expression growing more and more exaggerated.

Oh lord, he wanted to laugh!

Chen Lie froze up. It seemed like every time he faced her, he always misjudged her next move.

While he was still debating whether to let her hit him or to subtly deflect her blows to save her reputation, she just stuck her arms out…

Not to hit him, but to show him.

Show him what?

Chen Lie quickly scanned her arms—what he saw was smooth, fair skin with a hint of pink.

He reached out, grabbed her wrist, and frowned as he pulled her sleeve back down. When he moved to the second sleeve, Su Qinghu protested, “What are you doing?”

Chen Lie didn’t answer, continuing his motion. Su Qinghu resisted, refusing to let him pull her sleeves down, and huffed, “Did you see it or not?”

Chen Lie: “…”

Seeing Chen Lie’s helpless frustration turn into resignation, the captain’s grin grew even wider.

After all these years, he finally got to see Chen Lie in a tight spot!

Yuan Hang, having figured out who Chen Lie was, was also cracking up and started to egg things on, “Yeah, did you see clearly? Why are you pulling her sleeves down before you’re done looking?”

Chen Lie looked up and shot him a look—calm but icy—which made Yuan Hang’s back prickle. He quickly looked away.

But after a moment, feeling embarrassed, he looked back again.

Unfortunately, Chen Lie was no longer paying him any attention—he was focused solely on Su Qinghu, and asked in a low voice, “What do you want me to look at?”

“My arms,” Su Qinghu blinked, deliberately teasing him.

Chen Lie caught the fleeting mischief in her eyes, paused, and asked again, “What exactly do you want me to see on your arms?”

This time, he added six more words, making it perfectly clear.

Since he wasn’t getting angry, Su Qinghu lost interest. She let her sleeves fall. “Haven’t you ever been in a fight? Even if you win, you’ll still get a few bumps and bruises, right?”

“My arm got bruised from someone punching it…” Su Qinghu looked at him accusingly. “And not just my arm, there’s also—”

Chen Lie tensed up, reaching out to grab her shoulders so she couldn’t start lifting her shirt or pulling at her clothes.

“I’ll go buy you some medicine for bruises in a bit!”

“There aren’t any pharmacies or clinics open nearby at this hour,” Su Qinghu said with a bright smile. “So, are you going to get medicine for me from the hospital emergency room?”

No need for that!

It was the height of summer—she didn’t want to smell like medicine, or have any weird colors on her skin from ointments!

“Then get it from him!” Chen Lie was nearly driven to exasperation by Su Qinghu. “He’s got plenty!”

The captain, being singled out, nodded with a grin, “That’s right, I’ve got plenty of bruise ointment. It doesn’t smell great, but it works.”

Serves him right! Someone like Chen Lie needs a wife like her to keep him in check!

Yuan Hang, under Sister Li’s watchful gaze, didn’t dare add fuel to the fire anymore, but at this point he chimed in, “You can ask me too, I always carry some emergency medicine, including stuff for bruises.”

Sister Li said, “Better not use yours—I know that bottle. It’s probably expired.”

Expired? Yuan Hang opened his mouth to say he’d bought this one today, that the old bottle was from ages ago, but when he saw Sister Li smiling kindly at him, he instantly shut up.

Alright, he got it—he was the fool here, not realizing Sister Li was trying to give the young couple some alone time."
