Chapter 105: Congratulations—Finally Down to 699 Pounds
Scavenging in the Wasteland
Liang Yimo and her teammate, stark naked and clutching their crotches, faces flushed red, hurled curses at Shi Yuebai.
“Are you out of your mind?”
“What the hell is wrong with you, you psycho?!”
Shi Yuebai was holding the protective suits she’d just stripped off the two of them, inspecting them carefully.
These were definitely too small for her.
But they looked like professional search-and-rescue gear.
They fit close to the body, made of tough, waterproof, and abrasion-resistant material—good for climbing mountains, diving, or crawling through tunnels.
She didn’t need them, but Pang Zhenggong could use them.
As for the two pairs of underwear she’d taken, Shi Yuebai didn’t even consider keeping them.
Her family had traded for thousands of pairs of underwear last time.
No need to wear someone else’s used ones.
Liang Yimo and her teammate had been beaten black and blue by Shi Yuebai.
But while Shi Yuebai was busy admiring the clothes, the two of them managed to escape—toughing it out.
If they didn’t run now, Shi Yuebai would probably rip out every last hair on their bodies.
Once the two had disappeared from sight, Captain Qiao and Xu Xuejiao finally poked their heads out from the ditch.
The two of them were standing together on the cloud ladder.
Captain Qiao asked, “Yuebai, are you going back?”
If she wanted to go back, they’d help her onto the cloud ladder and figure out a way to get her across.
Though, that would be a bit tricky.
The cloud ladder was pretty narrow, after all.
Shi Yuebai nodded expressionlessly.
She picked up the two sets of clothes, two backpacks, and the remaining parts of the snake-eye detector.
In front of Captain Qiao and Xu Xuejiao, her body blurred into an afterimage.
The next second, she was back on the other side of the ditch.
Xu Xuejiao was so shocked she nearly fell off the cloud ladder.
Luckily, Captain Qiao caught her in time.
“Careful, it’s a long way down.”
Xu Xuejiao and Dajiao were now completely focused on digging in this huge ditch.
The deepest part was at least four meters down.
If you fell, you could really die.
And both Xu Xuejiao and Dajiao were getting stronger by the day.
With constant work and plenty of food and water, their spirits were better than ever.
In fact, Xu Xuejiao noticed her skin had improved a lot these past two days, and the fine lines at the corners of her eyes had smoothed out a bit.
As for Dajiao, every time she came out of the white mist, she looked like a lotus fresh out of water.
With the three of them looking so beautiful, Captain Qiao was always on edge.
Thank goodness they were following Shi Yuebai.
Otherwise, in this wasteland, the three of them would’ve probably been torn apart and devoured by now.
Captain Qiao helped Xu Xuejiao down.
Their family had been soaking in this thick mist for so long, their eyesight had actually improved.
The mist had washed their eyes so clear and bright.
Captain Qiao instructed Xu Xuejiao, “From now on, you and the girls mustn’t leave this ditch.”
“Just stay near Yuebai. Do whatever she tells you to do.”
Xu Xuejiao nodded.
She understood.
Only by staying close to Yuebai could they survive.
Up above, Shi Yuebai tossed the pile of loot she’d grabbed straight to Pang Zhenggong.
Without a word, she wheeled herself toward the Shi family’s compound wall.
“Yuebai, wait.”
Pang Zhenggong stood behind her, looking at her broad back with a complicated expression.
“Aren’t you afraid of offending them?”
“Hah?”
Shi Yuebai acted like she’d just heard the world’s funniest joke.
She spun her wheelchair around and shot Pang Zhenggong a mocking look.
“You’re scared?”
Pang Zhenggong nodded honestly.
He really was scared. The wasteland was like a giant beast, jaws wide open, forcing everyone to the brink.
“It’s the knives from those closest to you that hurt the most.”
His eyes were clouded with gloom.
“When I decided to take back what’s mine, I knew what I was up against. I’m all alone, and I’ve got a wife and kid to protect.”
“They have so many people, and Xiao Lingye’s team too.”
“Yuebai, I don’t want to drag you into this. You really didn’t have to stand up for me today.”
From start to finish, this was Pang Zhenggong’s grudge with Song Yucheng and the others.
They were the ones who’d forgotten gratitude, who’d betrayed their beliefs.
They were the ones who’d turned on their old brother.
Pang Zhenggong hated them.
These people had completely overturned everything he’d believed about human nature for decades.
They’d made him give up the last bit of kindness he had left.
He knew that seeking justice would be a long, hard road.
Trying to protect his wife and child while also pursuing fairness and morality—this wasn’t easy.
He might not only lose his own life.
He might drag Ahong and Pang Ziyuan down with him.
He didn’t want to involve anyone else.
Shi Yuebai really didn’t have to step in today.
Shi Yuebai sneered lightly.
“You’re overthinking it. I just wanted to snatch some good stuff. It had nothing to do with you.”
She rolled her wheelchair closer to Pang Zhenggong.
Even though she was sitting and he was standing,
Pang Zhenggong felt Shi Yuebai’s presence was overwhelmingly stronger than his own.
Shi Yuebai spoke,
“Back when people kept borrowing food from your family and nearly starved Pang Ziyuan to death, you should’ve realized the problem.”
“But clearly, before the wasteland, your family was just too kind for your own good. You kept making the same mistake over and over.”
“The moment you decide to pick up the butcher’s knife, don’t hesitate.”
“If you’re going to move forward, do it decisively. Then I can at least respect you a little. But this wishy-washiness—makes me want to stab you myself.”
Pang Zhenggong had been worried about Shi Yuebai.
But now, after her tongue-lashing, he just lowered his head.
“Sorry, I was overthinking. I won’t do it again.”
He realized he was wrong—Shi Yuebai was terrifyingly strong.
There was no need to worry about her getting into trouble.
Pang Zhenggong should be worrying about Liang Yimo’s group—who’d messed with the wrong person.
Shi Yuebai shot Pang Zhenggong a glare, gave a cold snort, and, feeling satisfied after her scolding, went back to sleep.
She’d just used her teleportation twice, and now her weight was dropping fast.
She’d finally broken through the 700 mark—down to 699 pounds.
Congratulations! Shi Yuebai was going to celebrate with a nap.
Meanwhile, the one-legged Liang Yimo and her teammate, both stark naked, returned to Xiao Lingye’s team.
Inside the team’s tent, Liang Yimo wailed,
“That fat bitch, that ugly freak—I’m going to kill her! Ahhh, I’m going to kill her!”
Song Yucheng’s face was dark. His injuries hadn’t healed, and now another teammate had a broken leg.
“The Shi family’s dead weight is really going too far.”
“If we don’t teach them a lesson, they’ll think we’re easy targets.”
Liang Yimo kept wailing.
Song Yucheng looked around at the team, speaking slowly and clearly,
“We keep sending people and equipment up there, and in the end, it’s the Shi family who benefits.”
“I have an idea.”
He wasn’t ready to reveal that the Shi family had food—not yet.
Let Xiao Lingye make the first move. Then they could sneak into the Shi family compound and haul away the food.
“Tell Xiao Lingye that both of the Shi girls are still at home. Have him send someone to deal with those idiots.”
I’m heading out for a walk—let’s go cloud-walking together!"
