Chapter 58: Chapter 58
I Farm and Plant Trees in the Global Game
Judging by the number of villagers in the village who still hadn’t regained consciousness, there was only one dungeon left.
The village chief, the librarian, and the hunter were among those still missing.
Once she obtained a villager’s contract, everything that villager owned became hers—no need for further exchanges.
That’s why, even though she already had 456 Source Power, she still planned to collect the remaining villager contracts before converting anything into physical items.
And yesterday, they finally found a clue to the last dungeon.
Before going to bed last night, several villagers had died underground.
Ever since she’d learned that villagers could be killed by the evil wizard at night, she’d hurriedly crafted lots of single beds so the villagers could sleep through the night.
During the day, this world was completely safe.
But yesterday, even before night fell, a few villagers died. Something must have happened.
So, after getting up this morning, she instructed the other villagers to pack up while she revived the ones who had died.
“We found the last dungeon! But we were killed by the evil wizard before we could even get close!” Wang Fugui shouted as soon as he was revived.
Yesterday, they’d discovered a huge cavern at the source of an underground lava river. The green mossy-brick dungeon was there, looking just like the evil wizard’s old tower.
But before they could get close, the evil wizard atop the tower killed them with magic.
Mu Ying’s character in the block world was already level 6, with much higher attack and defense, but she still didn’t have any good ranged attacks.
She wasn’t worried, though. The most “broken” ability in this world was digging blocks. She had the villagers bring along the stones they’d mined yesterday and follow her.
Once they reached the cavern near the lava river’s source, she had them line up and start placing stone blocks.
After building a stone house that completely protected them, they began moving the house, bit by bit, toward the evil wizard’s dungeon tower.
Each time, they’d break a block behind them and place a new one in front.
They only lost seven or eight villagers before they managed to get the stone house right up against the dungeon tower.
Using the same method, they started breaking down the tower’s walls piece by piece.
The evil wizard was furious, but all he could do was take potshots at them through the gaps when they broke a block. He couldn’t stray too far from the tower.
He was just like the zombies—during the day, without the protection of the dungeon core, he’d die quickly.
And this was the last dungeon core. Once it was gone, he wouldn’t revive after dying.
But Mu Ying’s group had over forty people. Losing a few didn’t matter, especially since most villagers still had unused revives today—she could bring them back at any time.
Crack!
With a crisp splitting sound, the last dungeon core shattered, and the evil wizard vanished.
[You have destroyed a dungeon core, freeing a small number of imprisoned souls. Gained Source Power ×10]
[Your trial character in the block world has reached level 7. Gained Source Power ×7]
[Your total Source Power has reached 500. You are now an official trial-taker. After this trial ends, you may unlock the second trial world.]
Mu Ying now had 473 Source Power, and counting the 50 she’d spent earlier to convert a storage pouch, she’d indeed surpassed 500.
Though she was curious about what the new trial world would be, she still had free trial time left for today.
She hurried back to the village and exchanged the shattered dungeon core for the last five villager contracts.
“So you’re the new village chief?” The old chief’s first act upon regaining consciousness was to grab his successor, who had saved the whole village, and look her up and down.
Mu Ying nodded, glancing awkwardly at the empty village and pointing toward the mine. “Your villagers have all moved over there.”
She thought the best thing about block people was that no one could read your expression.
“They’re your villagers now. Here’s the village chief’s seal—I’ll hand it over to you,” the old chief said cheerfully.
Mu Ying accepted the small, multicolored block.
[Village Chief’s Seal / World Core]
[Function: Controls resource respawn in the block world; controls the souls of the block world’s villagers]
[Physical Conversion: 1,000,000 Source Power per use]
[Item Description: A fragment world containing 50 original souls]
[Source Power Conversion: Not convertible]
Looking at the village chief’s seal—or rather, the world core—Mu Ying’s breath grew heavy.
A fragment world!
Right now, her greatest wish was to have a plantation like Grandpa Shaum’s.
What druid doesn’t dream of having a little world where they can plant whatever they want?
Now, she finally saw hope.
Grandpa Shaum’s plantation was made from a broken demi-plane even smaller than the block world, much like a fragment world.
Even seeing that long string of zeros in the physical conversion cost, Mu Ying still felt genuinely happy. Haha!
There would be no more zombies at night in the block world, and from now on, these fifty villagers would be her best helpers for earning Source Power.
No need to pay them wages, and each could gather enough resources every day to convert into at least 1 point of Source Power. She didn’t have to worry about the world being mined out either—soon, she’d be able to control resource respawns herself.
After settling her diligent new workers at the mine, she immediately spent 200 Source Power to exchange for the Crosshair skill and an Infinite Arrows Enchantment Book.
[You have acquired the General Skill: Crosshair. Your eyes now have a built-in targeting reticle, allowing you to accurately judge the landing point of ranged attacks.]
A new prompt popped up in the player’s manual, and Mu Ying’s mind filled with knowledge about aiming and shooting.
She opened her character panel.
[Name: Mu Ying]
